If you have ever been in a situation where you have been required to plan a party in another city, state or country, you know it can be difficult. Taking our company to another city or country gives our employees an opportunity to get out of our offices and essentially discover new things about our company and about their coworkers. Our team building meetings have very often lead to increased productivity, company wide.
Last winter, we paid for our group of senior investment brokers to take a ski trip in Denver, Colorado. It was relatively inexpensive because the flights were cheap and we were able to rent ski clothing for the brokers. Once they flew out there, we booked them at a nice hotel in downtown Denver where they all raved about how great the service was. After a day of skiing, we had them get down to business to talk about our plans as a company for the coming year.
All of the brokers on the trip sat down for team building meetings to devise plans to make the company more profitable in 2011 vs. 2010. Once they returned from the ski trip in Denver, we went over all of the plans that were discussed and came up with an implementation strategy.
